Dog Days of Summer

Who doesn’t love dogs and dog-themed events? After much anticipation, Downtown Naperville announced a summer-long sculpture display inspired by man’s best friend. Throughout downtown, dog lovers can find more than 20 sculptures on display to view and take photos with. Viewers can find a map of all the sculptures on the downtown Naperville website. There you can also vote for your favorite dog sculpture. Additionally, watch out for all the 2019 pet-related Naperville summer activities, including:

  • community dog walks
  • pet rescue events
  • Paint Your Pet art classes
  • pet-themed move nights in Central Park
  • a pet ice cream social

Pet owners can also find dog water bowls and treats around downtown and visit pet-friendly shops and patios with their pup!

23rd Naperville Rotary Ride

Families looking for a way to exercise, get outdoors, and support a great cause can register for the Naperville Rotary Ride. This event is also on August 11th. Experienced cyclists can register for a 21-, 41-, or 62-mile ride. Alternatively, families with young children can opt for the 1.4-mile Family Fun Loop. Registration is $40 per person until July 31st for the more experienced rides, or $15 per family for the Fun Loop. All proceeds support Rotary Charities, which go towards:

  • eradicating polio
  • fighting hunger
  • assisting veterans
  • providing services to prevent substance abuse, plus counseling and housing for affected families

All routes are stocked with support staff, snacks, and drinks. Plus, riders can enjoy a light lunch at the end of the ride. Register at the Naperville Rotary Ride website.

Festa Italiana

Another cultural Naperville summer activity celebrates all things Italian. August 2nd to the 4th is the weekend-long Festa Italiana in downtown Naperville. Specifically, the festival takes place at the Naper Settlement. It is a three-day extravaganza with:

  • two music stages
  • tons of family entertainment
  • artists
  • the widely-celebrated Zoppe Family Circus
  • plenty of dancers, singers, and performers
  • authentic Italian food to feast on

Unlike the Indian Day Celebration, Festa Italiana does charge a price for entry: $10 for one day or $20 for all three days. For more information, check out the full event website.
