This article features our three favorite fun Orland Park kid activities. These offer options for a variety of ages, and that parents will enjoy too!

1. Creamery

Technically in Orland Hills, Creamery is the perfect mix of a classic ice cream stand with modern choices and conveniences. They are known to run fun events, such as the Easter Egg Hunt or the Creamery Name Game. You can keep up with all that on the Creamery Facebook page. They have a good amount of outdoor seating, offer delivery options, and even do catering. In addition to a robust variety of ice cream options, Creamery offers so much more:

And who doesn’t want a picture on the bench that looks like a cow (the “cowch”)??

2. Psych Escape Room

Psych Escape Room is for older children, recommended for ages 10+. If you haven’t been to one yet, an escape room is a room-sized puzzle based on a mystery that needs to be solved in order for you to get out of the room (don’t worry, you can get out if you have an emergency). The room itself contains clues, and you have hints available to you that you can choose to use or not. It is up to your group to solve the puzzle within the allotted time (usually an hour). A family in a single room together will be on the same team, all working together.

Psych currently has three rooms/themes to choose from. They are all different puzzles so you can keep going back. Check their website for descriptions, levels of difficulty, and the occasional additional age restriction or warning. Reservations are required. You can also book Psych for birthday parties or other events.

3. Gizmo’s Fun Factory

I’m so impressed with Gizmo’s Fun Factory because they pay attention to every detail. Gizmo’s is an arcade, with tokens and prizes. But, it’s “7 Major Attractions” make it so much more! They are:

  • Bumper cars
  • Go karts
  • Ropes and zip line climbing attraction
  • Laser tag
  • Soft play maze for physical fun for the younger kids
  • Climbing wall
  • Laser maze

The decor is intentional, modeling science and intellect. Gizmo is a scientist. On their Google listing, they posted images of the construction and design of the place from scratch. We love the vibe of transparency and realism from the owners this creates, and that it is in line with the brand. Likewise, the website features real photos and videos of real customers, rather than cheesy stock images.

Gizmo’s offers parties and fundraising format. They’ve partnered with Nothing Bundt Cakes and Otis Spunkmeyer on party desserts.

Have fun!
