Spring is tempting us, as temperatures rise and spring showers begin. That means a favorite spring holiday has returned as well; the Easter Bunny is hopping! And Easter celebrations are encouraging an end to the hibernation of winter. Whether you are searching for some local dining that involves Easter favorites, looking to create traditions at local Easter egg hunts, or wanting to get your canine friends some social exercise, here’s a short list of events in Chicago’s southwest suburbs that may tickle your Easter fancy. Friendly disclaimer: some of these events listed require pre-registration and have the potential to sellout, so don’t let indecisiveness put a kibosh on a good time!

Tinley Park Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt

When: April 8th
Time: 7:30 pm (ages 3-4) and 7:40 (ages 5-8)
Where: Tinley Park District Baseball Fields (West of the Recreation Center)
Cost: $1 for residents, $2 for nonresidents (per child). 

Rain or shine, come join the flashlight Easter egg hunt in Tinley Park. Make sure you pre-register in order to attend the event. Flashlights are required, and no adults are allowed on the field for the 5-8 year-old age group. One parent is allowed on the field for the 3-4 year-old age group. Per usual, this would be no Easter egg hunt the Easter Bunny making a guest appearance!

Hippity Hoppity Bunny Trail

When: April 9th
Time: 10:00-12 pm
Where: Centennial Park 16028 127th St., Lemont, IL 60439
Cost: $5 for Lemont residents, $10 for all nonresidents

Venture on out to Lemont to hop on the Centennial Trail for Easter treats and more. Guests are encouraged to dress like a bunny and check out the local sponsors providing Easter goodies. All child participants will receive an Easter basket. Registration is required in advance. 

Lisle Easter Egg Hunt

When: April 9th
Time: 10 am (Ages 2 and under), 10:15 (Ages 3-6), 10:30 (Ages 7-10)

Bring your own Easter basket for this annual Easter egg hunt. With times spread out for age appropriate fun, there’s no need to worry about your little bunnies being scared away from a good time. This is an all weather event, so rain, snow, or sunshine, dress appropriately. 

Tinley Park Doggie Egg-stravaganza

When: April 9th
Time: 10:15 and 11:15 am (egg releases)
Where: Canine Campus Dog Park 18200 84th Ave. Tinley Park, IL 60477
Cost: Free
Registration: No registration needed!

Bring you canine friends out for some fun to the Canine Campus Dog Park (no membership needed) for a bone-a-fide good time. With egg (bone) releases at 10:15 and 11:15, celebrate springtime by letting your dog explore the local grounds at the dog park. In addition, there is a spring-themed photo area and an Easter bonnet contest. Will your dog be the one to find the “golden” bone?? Come find out! Owners may be asked to leave if their dog(s) becomes too aggressive. 

Doggie Egg Hunt in LaGrange

When: April 9th
Time: 11:00-11:30 am
Where: Sedgwick Park – 47th St. and 10th Ave. LaGrange, IL 60525

Deadline to register: April 1

The Park District of LaGrange wants to bring an egg-stra egg-citing treat to our four-legged friends. Leash up your pup and have fun with a NEW event where your canine searches for dog-friendly treat-filled eggs. You must leash dogs at all times; retractable leashes will be allowed. Organizers will place all treats inside plastic eggs. Supervision is a must. Limited spots available. 

Lisle Flashlight Egg Hunt 

When: April 9th
Time: 8:00-8:30 pm

For all you nocturnal bunnies, checkout the Flashlight Egg Hunt in Lisle’s Community Park Bandshell. This is an all weather event, so bring appropriate attire for the conditions, and you do need to bring your own flashlight. The Lisle Park District is following the most current Covid-19 protocols. Recommended ages for this event are 10-14 year-olds. 

Breakfast with the Bunny

When: April 15th and 16th

Hop on over to the springtime buffet at the Morton Arboretum (Gingko Room) for a feast and visit from the Easter Bunny! The Easter bunny will make a stop to say hello to all the families and bring a special treat for the little ones. Once done eating, take a stroll over to Meadow Lake and take in all the spring sights and smells as the Morton Arboretum blossoms into life.
